You can help support the promotion of academic competition in Missouri.
All Missouri academic coaches, as well as those interested in promoting excellence in academic competition, are eligible for membership in MACA.
MACA uses its dues to purchase medals for all-district and all-state teams, to host a state-wide Junior Varsity tournament, and to support Missouri national competition teams. We also provide aid and information to coaches through newsletters and e-mail correspondence. In addition, MACA hosts an informative annual convention each fall.
“The Brainstorm at the Lake,” MACA’s annual conference, hit the Inn at Grand Glaize in Osage Beach on September 26-27, and was declared a success. The day featured a variety of breakout sessions, a “new” president in the morning, and an election of a vice-president in the afternoon. Coach of the Year awards went to four top coaches, and member-emeritus Troy Kinast won the Carol Farmer Founders Award. One karma-charmed member won a new ZeeCraft buzzer system, donated by the ZeeCraft people.
Stacy Schroeder, Associate Executive Director of the Missouri State High School Activities Association, has announced that the MSHSAA has moved the date that the Scholar Bowl online rules review becomes available from the originally scheduled date of Friday, October 1 to Monday, October 4. The rulebook packets are being shipped on Wednesday, September 29 and people really need to have the rulebook in hand before they do the rules review. MSHSAA anticipates that more coaches will have them in hand if they post the review on Monday.
New for 2010-11: Online Rules Reviews Will Replace Rules Meetings
The 2010 MACA convention will be held Monday, Sept. 27 at the Inn at Grand Glaize in Osage Beach.

The Missouri Academic Coaches Association (MACA) would like to announce that the annual Missouri State Junior Varsity Quiz Bowl Tournament will be held on the campus of Helias High School on Saturday, April 10, 2010. This is a new central location and Helias has graciously agreed to host the tournament. MACA hopes that this will allow many more schools to compete especially those from the eastern side of the state since travel times will no longer be so long or require an overnight trip.
The Missouri Academic Coaches Association website has been overhauled! moaca.org now uses a content management system called Drupal, which will soon allow coaches to log in and post tournament announcements and other content!
Registered coaches can subscribe to receive an email whenever a new tournament announcement is posted:
