This tournament will consist of a minimum of eight games for all teams in a modified NAQT/national format:
The initial field cap for this tournament is twelve teams. Each team will be guaranteed eight games regardless of performance; that number may rise depending on the number of attending teams. Games will consist of 20 tossups and up to 20 three part 30-point, rebounding bonuses. 15 point powers and 5 point negs will be used on tossups. Math calculation tossups will not be read. This tournament will be a qualifier for NAQT's High School National Championship Tournament; the top 15% of the field will qualify.
(Postponed from November 15)
Fort Osage High School is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Three Trails Tournament to be held at Fort Osage High School on November 15, 2014. This tournament will be run in the twenty tossup/bonus format. Matches will consist of 20 tossups with 3 part rebounding bonuses worth up to thirty points. We will be using the highly regarded BELLOCO set (a link to the question information is here: http://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=109&t=14763). The set is not powermarked, and we will not have “negs” either.
Games will consist of 20 tossups with three-part, non-rebounding bonuses. The exact schedule for the tournament will depend on the final field size, but teams should expect to be divided into preliminary pools that will each play a round robin, followed by a rebracketing into championship and consolation pools. If the field fills, all teams should expect to play 10 games, ending around 4:00, with any necessary finals and tiebreakers following.
Oakville Senior High School will be hosting a mirror of GSAC, a housewritten tournament produced by Maggie Walker Governor's School (VA), on March 28, 2015.
Each round will consist of 20 tossup questions with 20 3-part bonuses should a team answer a tossup correctly. Tossups will be worth 10 points, with 5-point negs for incorrect interrupts. There will be no powers at this tournament.
The Missouri Quizbowl Alliance would like to invite all MSHSAA-registered high school Scholar Bowl teams to participate in the 2015 NAQT Missouri Qualifier, which will be held on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia on March 7, 2015.
The Washington University Academic Team is excited to announce the seventeenth annual WUHSAC, to be held at Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday, February 14th, 2015. This is as in the previous two years, President's Day Weekend, which (weather permitting) is an ideal way to use the holiday by seeing our campus and the city of St. Louis!
The set is once again a mirror of Yale's BHSAT event. We are looking forward to a tournament that will (hopefully) be bigger and better than ever!
Each round will consist of 20 tossup questions with 20 3-part bonuses should a team answer a tossup correctly. Bonuses will rebound.
Since this is a regular difficulty question set, there will be no eligibility restrictions as there were for last year's tournament. Also, a single team can have no more than six players. If you have more than six players, please do not hesitate to sign up a second or even third team!
To register, please email both Jason Loy, at jloy@tuscumbialions.k12.mo.us, and Shelly Kiesling at shelly.kiesling@jcschools.us with the number of teams and buzzer systems you plan on bringing.
