Team Missouri earned a first-round victory against Guam, Vermont, and Iowa, beating its closest opponent by over 100 points.

Missouri advanced to the semi-finals against Wisconsin, Louisiana, Alabama, and perennial foe Maryland.
Team Missouri came up short in its bid to make the finals. Maryland and Missouri battled for many of the same questions while Wisconsin quietly captured elusive questions from the languages and music. Wisconsin nudged out Missouri for a spot in the final round.
Michael Richards was named to the six-member All America Team and recieved a $1,000 scholarship provided by Publix Super Markets Charities, Inc.

The 2004-05 competition was held at Disney's Contemporary Resort Convention Center in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on June 18-21. Thirty-three teams competed for the championship which included scholarships for the top three teams in the nation.
The Missouri team competed in the second preliminary round on Sunday, July 19 from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. against Guam, Vermont, and Iowa. The win placed the Missouri team into one of the three semifinal rounds where the top two teams in each semi-final game advance to the final round. The individual winners from each of the eight games in the first and second rounds earned a spot in the semi-finals. The remaining teams competed in round three or four where they had a second and final chance to make it to the semis. The top 12-15 teams advanced to the semi-final rounds played in three groups and the top two teams from each group earned a spot in the finals where six teams competed in one game to determine places.
