The MACA lame-duck president has been nudged by an attentive member to put more comprehensive convention news here at the website, so here's some. The special MACA rate for the Inn at Grand Glaize should still be $65; call the Inn for reservations. The Inn at Grand Glaize, 5142 Highway 54, Osage Beach, MO 65065-3279, (573) 348-4731.
Convention fees will stay at last year's rate of $25. MACA membership fees also remain consistent at $25, with a bargain rate of $15 for additional coaches or members from the same school.
Volunteerism for session presentation has been sparse, at best. Bill Luce, always among the first to step forward, has volunteered to host a session for new coaches. Charles Dees from the Missouri Quizbowl Association will provide "an explanation of pyramidal quizbowl and the new pyramidal circuit that has emerged locally over the last few years, and how it relates to the new NAQT-written MSHSAA tournament which uses a large amount (sic) of pyramidal questions." Al Nicolai will direct a session on "What You Need to Know about Literature." Other slots remain open; please step up and fill a session with your specialty.
